It is not unknown to everybody that the economy of the world is in one of its worst state. But that does not mean people could stop living their lives and having fun while you’re at it. In New York, being a major city in the United States, prices are relatively high compared to others. Yet you can still explore the attractions in New York even if you are tight on the budget. There are a lot of free attractions in New York you can go to; you just have to know where.
The Statue of Liberty is the great icon of New York City and you can stare at it, take a picture of it and even paint it for free. If you really want the best view of the statue, you can get it by taking the Staten Island Ferry Trip.
Then there is ground zero, where the two World Trade Center Towers once stood. On that site today, you will find ongoing construction for a new building called the Freedom Tower, as well as a memorial of that fateful day in 2001.
In the middle of Avenue of the Americas and 5th Avenue, you will see one of the most famous and historical attractions in New York: the Rockefeller Center. This building was constructed in the thirties and is home to a number of shops, eating establishments and even has an ice rink.
The Wall Street, with the New York Stock Exchange’s grand faade is a sight to behold. Visit the federal hall for a quick and free tour of the museum where George Washington was inducted. A walk down the symbol of western capitalism will cost you not a penny.
Don’t think that you always have to pay to get into the nice museums. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is free anytime during the week, the Museum of the City of New York is free on Sundays from ten in the morning until 12, and the Museum of Modern Art is free on Fridays from four to eight in the evening.
The 843 acre Central Park offers a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. Enjoy boating on a man-made lake, ice skating, seeing animals at the zoo, and swimming in the heat of summer. For those shoppers out there, stop by stores such as Sak’s Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, or Tiffany and Company to witness a shopper’s paradise.
Everybody will want to see the Empire State Building, which is the tallest building in New York. Then there is Times Square which we all know from New Year’s Rockin’ Eve every year.
